Let's get started with the first topic: how to create a Reel.
To create a Reel, you need to access the Reels camera. There are two ways to do that:
- Swipe right from your Instagram home screen to open the camera, then swipe left at the bottom to select the Reels option.
- Tap the plus icon (+) at the top right of your home screen, then tap the Reels option at the bottom.
Once you are in the Reels camera, you can choose your settings and start recording your clips. Here are some of the settings and features you can use:
- Length: You can choose to make your Reel either 15 seconds or 30 seconds long. Tap the length icon at the top left to switch between the two options.
- Audio: You can add music or sound to your Reel from the Instagram music library or your own audio. Tap the audio icon at the top to browse or search for music, or tap the microphone icon to record your own voice or sound. You can also adjust the volume of the audio and the original sound of your video.
- Speed: You can adjust the speed of your video to make it faster or slower. Tap the speed icon at the top to choose from 0.3x to 3x speed. You can use different speeds for different clips to create interesting effects.
- Effects: You can apply various filters and effects to your video to enhance its look and feel. Tap the effects icon at the top to browse or search for effects, or swipe left or right on the screen to switch between them. You can use different effects for different clips to create variety and contrast.
- Timer: You can use the timer to set a countdown before recording your clip. Tap the timer icon at the top to choose the duration of your clip, then tap the set timer button. You will see a 3-2-1 countdown on the screen before the recording starts. You can use the timer to record hands-free or to prepare yourself for the shot.
- Align: You can use the align feature to line up your previous clip with your current one. This is useful for creating seamless transitions or changing outfits or backgrounds. Tap the align icon at the top to see a transparent overlay of your previous clip on the screen, then adjust your position to match it. You can use the align feature for any clip except the first one.
To record a clip, press and hold the capture button at the bottom center of the screen. You will see a progress bar at the top showing the length of your clip and your Reel. You can release the button to stop recording, or swipe up to lock the recording. You can also tap the capture button to start and stop recording. You can record multiple clips for your Reel, up to the maximum length you chose.
To edit a clip, tap the back arrow at the bottom left of the screen. You will see a preview of your Reel and the clips you recorded. You can tap on any clip to trim, delete, or duplicate it. You can also drag and drop the clips to rearrange their order. You can also add stickers, text, or drawings to your Reel by tapping the icons at the top right of the screen. You can adjust the size, position, color, and duration of these elements on your Reel.
When you are happy with your Reel, you can move on to the next topic: how to share a Reel.
